Yamaha PSR e413 61 Key Portable Keyboard – Accompaniment Does Not Start / Play Back

by Lisa
(Michigan, US)

Hi,

I have recently bought a brand new Yamaha PSR e413 61 Key Portable Keyboard and am trying out the various features that are available on this psr keyboard.

I have observed a couple of problems with the way the accompaniment works on this keyboard. I am not sure if it is the keyboard's problem or if I am pressing some wrong buttons.

The first observation is that the auto accompaniment on my Yamaha PSR e413 61 Key Portable Keyboard does not start consistently in the "Synchro Start" mode, when I press a key.

I mean, if the Synchro Start mode is engaged, and if I press a key, sometimes the accompaniment starts and sometimes it doesn't.

This is really frustrating since I love using the Synchro-Start mode feature.

The second thing is that for certain accompaniments, the psr keyboard seems to skip some notes that I play. It doesn’t skip the melody notes but it seems to be skipping certain notes of the chords that I play; the keyboard doesn’t play some notes of the chords.

This seems bad because I get a feeling that there is some problem with this particular keyboard that I got.

Am I doing something wrong here or is there any limitation to the Yamaha PSR e413 61 Key Portable Keyboard?

Yamaha PSR e413 61 key portable keyboard - How to Create Your Own Sounds NEW
by: Chris

Hi Betty,

You can definitely create your own sound on the Yamaha PSR e413 61 key portable keyboard, but you need to start with an existing built-in sound. You can then add variations to the selected sound in different ways.

You will find a couple of knobs in the lower left area of the PSR e413 keyboard which can be used to alter the sounds in various ways.

You first have to assign the various effects like Filter, envelope generator (EG), etc. to those two knobs and then you can use those knobs to transform the voices. You also have effects which are meant only for transforming the styles.

You can read more in the user-manual of Yamaha PSR e413 61 key portable keyboard.

Hope this helps.

Chris

Yamaha PSR e413 61 key portable keyboard ? How to Create Your Own Sound NEW
by: Betty

Hi,

How can I create my own sounds on the Yamaha PSR e413 61 key portable keyboard?

I know that the PSR e413 has enough built-in voices of its own but it seems you can create your own unique sounds as well.

I have not been able to figure out how to do it on the Yamaha PSR e413 61 key portable keyboard.

Any idea how I can create my own unique sound/voice?

Can I save the newly created sound and use it later like any other built-in sound on the Yamaha PSR e413 61 key portable keyboard?

Thanks,
Betty

Yamaha PSR e413 61 Key Portable Keyboard ? Accompaniment Does Not Start / Play Back NEW
by: Suresh

Regarding your Yamaha PSR e413 61 Key Portable Keyboard...

I don?t think the PSR-e413 has a full-fingered mode and that is the reason the synchro-start may not work for any key that you press on your keyboard.

You may be trying to start accompaniment by playing a key in the right-hand range
of the keyboard.

If you do not have full-fingered mode, and if you need to start the accompaniment with Synchro Start, make sure to play a key in the left-hand (accompaniment) range of your Yamaha PSR e413 61 Key Portable Keyboard.

The second problem could be because of limited polyphony. For some particular accompaniments, if you play complex chord combinations, you might exceed the maximum polyphony for your PSR keyboard instrument.

If that happens, the notes that exceed the max polyphony limit will not sound. That is what is probably happening in your case.

I personally feel there is no problem with your Yamaha PSR e413 61 Key Portable Keyboard and the behavior you observed would happen on any other music keyboard with similar technical specifications.

Thanks,
Suresh
