Yamaha PSR E403 / Cakewalk - How to Transfer Song Data to Computer

by Midge Curtis
(UK)

I have a Yamaha PSR E403 and use Cakewalk on my PC.

The user-manual says you can transfer Song data to your PC, but I am unable to get this to work.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this just not possible using the Yamaha PSR E403 keyboard?

I really want to be able to record a song using the PSR keyboards built in recording facilities, then transfer it to Cakewalk to edit certain elements to create backing tracks for Bass and Guitar.

Any ideas how to get this thing to work with the Yamaha PSR E403 keyboard?

Yamaha PSR - Save Song to the Keyboard from Computer

How do I save a recorded song from my computer back on the PSR E423? The manual explains how to transfer songs TO the computer, but not vice-versa...

Hi Curtis,

The song data can be transferred to a PC but that is usually for storage purposes only. The 'Bulk Dump' feature stores the song data in a format which cannot be edited on a computer.

For your purpose, you need a different approach.

You can make a connection from the "Headphone Out" on your Yamaha PSR E403 keyboard to the "Line In" on the soundcard of your computer...and record whatever your keyboard plays, on to the computer.

This is recorded as wav file (not midi) so you can write to CD, but then editing wav files is also a bit difficult unless you have proper audio editing software

Another method would be to make use of loop based software like FL Studio, which will easily help you create backing tracks for Bass and Guitar.

Thx
