Yamaha PSR 620 Keyboard - Won't Play Midi File containing Songs

by Rashid
(KL, Malaysia)

Yamaha PSR 620

Yamaha PSR 620

I have a Yamaha PSR 620 Keyboard and I am trying to play midi files (containing popular songs) through it.

The problem is that the Yamaha PSR-620 just won't play it back.

Though it seems that the PSR620 can read the midi file, since I am able to see the song title on the LCD screen of my Yamaha Keyboard.

How do I make the Yamaha PSR 620 Keyboard to play the midi file?

Yamaha PSR 620 Keyboard - Won't Play Midi File containing Songs NEW
by: John

Hi Rashid,

I think the Yamaha PSR 620 Keyboard can only play a particular type of Midi File, which is the problem.

A "midi file" (actually known as "Standard MIDI File") is of two types - Type 0 and Type 1.

The song that you are trying to play is probably a 'Type 1' midi file, which your Yamaha PSR-620 keyboard is unable to play.

Search on the Internet for software that can do this conversion between Type 1 and Type 0 midi files.

That should do the trick for your Yamaha PSR 620 Keyboard.

Thanks,
John
