Layer & Split
The Layer and Split functionality lets you create interesting combination of the existing sounds. With the layer feature you can combine two sounds and play it across the keyboard. With the split feature, you can have one sound on the left side and another sound on the right side of the keyboard. So you can play bass with your left hand and piano with the right hand if you wish.

External connectivity
The PSR-450 model comes with a MIDI IN/OUT slot which lets you connect your keyboard to a computer. This way you can use your keyboard as a midi controller and drive an external software sequencer if you wish.

Built-in Sequencer
The built-in 6 track sequencer lets you record your own songs. Though, it does not come with full fledged editing facilities, you can use it for practicing and to get a good grasp of how a sequencer works.

Other Features
Some of the other features that you will find useful are -
• 600+ voices & 100+ accompaniment styles
• 5 demo songs
• Digital effects – Reverb, Chorus and Harmony
• Pitch bend wheel
• Auxiliary Jack – Phones, Sustain pedal

Conclusions
The Yamaha psr450 keyboard has a very good collection of sounds and styles and rates high on sound quality. Besides, it comes with a built-in sequencer and MIDI in/out feature for advanced usage.
