Yamaha – Wide Range of Pianos!

Yamaha has a wide range of digital pianos. You can get a budget Yamaha piano with the basic set of piano sounds, or you can go in for an ensemble with the grand piano look. A Yamaha piano combines the best features of an acoustic piano with the flexibility of a digital instrument.

Some of the popular Yamaha pianos include the portable P-series and the Clavinova models. The CP-series models are preferred by a lot of gigging musicians & professionals because of its power.

Yamaha Grand Touch - Yamaha Graded Hammer Effect

One of the primary reasons for the popularity of Yamaha pianos among professionals is their famed Yamaha piano touch.

These pianos feature the Yamaha graded hammer effect, which provides authentic piano feel and naturally expressive response, like a real acoustic piano.

The Graded Hammer Effect action gives all keys an authentic resistance that increases from the top register to the lower. Keys are weighted heavier in the lower octaves and become gradually lighter in the upper octaves, just as on an acoustic grand piano.

This Yamaha grand touch makes it possible for you to naturally pound out thunderous low notes with your left hand, and at the same time let your right hand fingers fly on the higher octaves.

Yamaha Graded Hammer Standard vs. Graded Hammer

The Yamaha pianos in the higher price range feature the Yamaha Graded Hammer effect whereas the models in the lower price range feature the Yamaha Graded Hammer Standard effect.

So what is the difference between the two?

Not much except that the Yamaha Graded Hammer is slightly better built and slightly faster than the standard version. Hence they are available in the higher end pianos!

Though over time, the keys on both can get somewhat noisier, the standard version may become noisier a bit sooner.

Summary - Yamaha Graded Hammer

Yamaha Pianos are popular because of their expressive sounds and the Yamaha grand touch keyboard. To know how it feels, you actually need to sit down and play one of these pianos. In general, Graded Hammer effect is better than the Graded Hammer Standard effect, but then they cost more.
