Yamaha MO6 vs Yamaha MM6 - Review of these 61 Key Synthesizer Keyboards.

I have been using the Yamaha MO-6 synthesizer for the past 18 months now, and I feel it is a truly amazing instrument for live playing. I use it mainly for Church use, but it will be very useful for dance music production as well.

The only minor glitch I ever faced with the keyboard was with one of its keys, but then the MO-6 keyboard was under the warranty period and Yamaha fixed the keyboard for me.

Otherwise, I think it’s a fabulous instrument, and will even be more appreciated by someone who is into techno or trance music. The only other keyboard that could match its capabilities and is more of a competitor is the Korg M50-61.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the Yamaha MO-6 synthesizer.

Yamaha PSR Arranger vs. Yamaha MM6 Mini MO Synthesizer
by: Lee

Well, IMHO you are comparing two different things. The Yamaha MM6 is a synthesizer, so like an arranger you won't find styles, but you will find patterns.

Most of the patterns on the Yamaha MM6 are more suited to hip hop and dance genres. The psr s910 costs more and has much better sounding and varied styles.

The MM6 also has great sounds, and limited range of styles, and accordingly it is priced much lesser.

Yamaha MM6 Synthesizer Workstation review
by: Tom

I have had Yamaha MM6 Synthesizer Workstation (AKA the Mini-Mo) for some time now and I think I am in love with this keyboard. I had bought the Yamaha MM6 synthesizer for around $700, which included a Power Adapter as well.

I mostly use acoustic instrument sounds like the piano and the guitar and I think they are just too good. I'd got it for my home studio because of its various capabilities and it has served me well.

As I said, I use mostly its acoustic instrument sounds but its sound library also contains top quality Bass, Synth, and Strings patches (based on the MOTIF).

I think the Yamaha MM6 is perfect for any musician / studio producer.

Yamaha MO6 vs MM6 Synthesizer Keyboard

Don't agree to this.

"The Yamaha MM6 is not even a mini-Motif, but an advanced PSR with some of the Motif sounds."

Would agree that the Yamaha MO series is more of the real deal, but then the Yamaha MM6 is also not some cheap stuff. It is indeed a liter version of the Motif.

Btw, the Yamaha psr-s910 has some great sounding bread and butter sounds (acoustic instrument sounds)

Yamaha MO6 vs MM6 61 Key Synthesizer - Why is MO6 much more expensive?
by: Rocky

The MO series is far more advanced, and most of its features are based on the Motif. The MM6 on the other hand is a very "lite" version. In fact some users feel the MM6 is not even a mini-Motif, but an advanced PSR with some of the Motif sounds.

Some of the advantages of the Yamaha MO6 over MM6 are as follows:

Strongly built
Twice the polyphony
Has a larger sound library (same as MOTIF ES)
Has Portamento
175 MB ROM (mm6 has 70)
Better editing capabilities
Full featured sequencer and arpeggiator.

Yamaha MO6 vs MM6 61 Key Synthesizer - Why is MO6 much more expensive?
by: Cyrus

Hi,

Am looking forward to buying a Yamaha synthesizer, have zeroed in on these two, the Yamaha MO6 and the Yamaha MM6 61 Key Synthesizers.

Was keen on the Yamaha MO6 initially but then thought it was a bit expensive, hence started looking around for another alternative - Yamaha MM6.

But then the Yamaha MO6 is quite expensive compared to the Yamaha MM6 (almost twice). So I assume the MO6 is a better keyboard but then would like to know what those differences are which makes the MO6 so expensive compared to the MM6?

I basically want a synthesizer keyboard (preferable from Yamaha) for recording and editing purposes. I would prefer to have a huge library of sounds.
