Yamaha YPT Keyboards (420, 320, 220) - Arranger Keyboard for Beginners

Introducing Yamaha YPT Keyboards series (YPT 420, 320, 220)! Fine entry level arranger keyboard, suitable for beginners who want to get started.

Yamaha YPT Keyboards, Yamaha Keyboard YPT

If you are thinking of buying an electronic keyboard, then you must choose a model that fits your budget as well as requirements.

If you are a beginner or an intermediate level keyboard play, you can consider the Yamaha YPT keyboards series.

All the keyboards in the YPT series come with the Yamaha education suite, besides the standard functions that are available on digital keyboards…all these in a price that you can afford.

Yamaha YPT or PSR Keyboard?

The Yamaha YPT series keyboards are similar to the entry level models in the Yamaha PSR series. Though the PSR series has some high-end keyboards meant for intermediate to experienced players, there beginner models are similar to the YPT keyboards. Even if you look at the user manual for the keyboards across these series, you will see that they have the same set of features, except for some minor differences like difference in color.

The only reason they exist together is because it helped Yamaha to label these keyboards for different countries, markets, distributors and sales outlet. At times, we do wonder about Yamaha’s strategy here. As it seems to create some sort of confusion in the minds of the buyers, since they are not clear about the differences in the two, even though the models across the series look completely similar.

But I guess now you know the answer. Both, the Yamaha PSR and the Yamaha YPT series basically contain entry-level keyboards, and there is no difference in the features as such in these two series. You can check out the yamaha psr keyboards here if you wish.

But if you like a particular Yamaha YPT keyboard, go for it because its corresponding PSR keyboard would be similar. And it's quite possible that the place from where you are buying may not stock both the series.

Yamaha YPT Keyboards – Various Models

Here are the various models in the Yamaha YPT series:

For the absolute beginner, the YPT-220 presents several features including the Yamaha Education Suite which makes revising important music concepts easier than ever before. You will find 375 natural sounding voices, including Stereo Grand Piano, 361 XGlite voices, 12 drum kits and a sound effect kit. The YPT-220 also has 100 accompaniment styles and 102 built-in songs. Summary

Yamaha YPT is one of the more popular arranger keyboard series, along with the PSR. But as mentioned earlier, you may not find keyboards from both the series stocked up at the same sales store. Part of marketing Yamaha’s Strategy!!!

So if you are looking for a good beginner keyboard that is inexpensive and portable enough to be taken around, then have a look at the YPT-220 and the YPT-320 keyboards. These are perfect for learning and for your daily usage. Amazon has many package deals on YPT keyboards where-in you could get bundled keyboard stands, bags, power adapter, pedals along with your YPT keyboard (depending on the offer). If you are looking for a bit of pro features but do not want to spend a fortuned, then you could even consider the YPT-420. It will be quite useful for songwriting as well.
