Want to Buy the Best Music Workstation Keyboard...

by Pradipta Banerjee
(India)

Hi,

I have found your website to be one of the best, and would like your suggestion to help me purchase a Music Workstation Keyboard.

I am looking for a Workstation keyboard as it can do everything, Arranger, Synthesizer etc and so on, am I right?

Can you please let me know a good music workstation which has 88 Keys, which has the best sound, and the best features? It should also be helpful in Learning for Beginners and also be good enough to teach Beginners.

Does Yamaha Motif satisfy these criteria?

Please suggest a suitable music workstation keyboard at the earliest, which would satisfy all the criteria.

Thanks,
- Pradipta

Need advice on selecting music workstation
by: Mukhtar Farid (US)

Hello everyone,

I must admit the Roland Fantom G6 was indeed a powerful tool but falls short of preset arpeggiators. Now creating your own arpeggiators is fun and cool but when you think about creating professional quality ones it is a painful process. Therefore I have decided much against my favor to change/upgrade to Korg Kronos 61 or Yamaha Motif XS6. I admit I am going lose the 128 midi tracks feature but the bouncing function will help out with the really hard melody parts.

But in any case can someone give me a realistic review of Korg Kronos. I know that its like 9 keyboard synthesis in one kind of deal but I would like to know how the samplers work, sequencer functionality and ofcourse sounds-particularly stringed instruments like acoustic guitars.

I had the Korg M50 but was dissatisfied by the quality of acoustic guitar sound. Please give me an honest review because we're talking about spending 2999 dollars...which is not impossible to arrange just problematic if at the end the machine is worser than the Roland Fantom g6. Please let me know you opinions and personal experience with the keyboard. The reason I am asking this is because I have current physical keyboard stores selling Kronos, I will be ordering it online.

Thank you,
Mukhtar

Want to Buy the Best Music Workstation Keyboard...

You do get software programs that can help you get started with piano learning. You can read more here on Piano Learning Software reviews

When technology is involved, there are multiple ways to do certain things. There is no one right way.

You can either invest in expensive digital keyboards that have sound generating, editing and production capabilities, or you can switch to the software domain where you use midi keyboard controller and software combination on your computer.

Apologies, if I am sounding too technical...

Feel free to ask more queries.

Best Music Workstation Keyboard - Yamaha Motif, Roland Fantom, Korg M50
by: Suresh

Hi Pradipta,

The Yamaha Motif is definitely capable of doing a lot of things but you should be able to extract it out of it.

I am not sure what keyboards you have owned earlier, but the Motif is a very high end keyboard. Usually one discusses things like sounds, sampling, sequencer, and arpeggiators when it comes to music workstations and not beginner learning packages...You know what I mean.

Still, if you want to buy a high-end music workstation, you will have to make that decision based on your budget and what brand you like.

Besides Yamaha Motif, you can also have a look at Roland Fantom and the more economical Korg M50 Workstation.

Hope this helps.

Best Music Workstation Keyboard ? Need Specifications
by: Pradipta

Hi,

I will try to adjust the budget for the Models you specify, it can be large.

Moreover is Motif XS8 the best among all the workstations? Am I right from reading your details on Motif?

I want 88 keys so that all types and ranges of music can be composed. Are the Yamaha Learning and Educational Packages available with Motif so that it can help in Learning for Beginners?

Please help.
Thanks

Looking for the the Best Music Workstation Keyboard
by: Suresh

Hi Pradipta,

Yamaha Motif definitely is among one of the best workstation keyboards available in the market, but you have not specified your budget.

You have mentioned that the workstation keyboard should be helpful for beginners and you want to use it to teach beginners as well.

Are you sure you need a music workstation keyboard in that case...and that too a Yamaha Motif?

And do you really need 88 keys? Any reason why 61 keys will not suffice?

If you are not really into professional music production, then you may even consider the Yamaha PSR s-710 or the PSR s-910 depending on your budget. These keyboards should cost you around 1000 to 1500 US dollars.

Hope this helps.
