Technics SX-PR270 Digital Piano - No Sound, No Lights

by Brasto
(Heemskerk, Netherlands)

My Technics SX PR-270 digital piano has no sound and the LED's do not light. (Except PWR ON LED is ON, and on the program section 2 LED are on - P.MEM and OTHER)

Resetting the SX PR270 gives no results.

  • All +/- 5 VDC OK, +/- 15 VDC OK

  • Amplifier is OK

  • DEMO does not run

  • RAM & ROM checks OK

  • All CPL CPSQ CPR checks fail; something is not driving the Gate Arrays IC1.

I would like to borrow Main Board for test or request someone to check my Main Board P/N SXPG 211491 in this machine.

I cannot and will not spend $500 for replacement board for the Technics SX PR-270 digital piano.

    TIA
    Brasto

    I have a Technics sx PR270 piano
    by: Andrew Baber (Yorkshire England)

Has anyone technical advice on repairing a Technics sx-PR270 piano?

The middle octaves are ok but the rest is transposed!

The piano is working on all keys and all voices but the pitch changes at key F ( below middle C ) so that the middle keys are repeated at the bottom A up to F below mid C. So in pitch bottom A = F(bmC).

Again at the top of the keyboard C ( oct 2 above mid C) up to the end of the keyboard is so high that unless you experiment with low voices you think they aren't working.

I am an electronics engineer though not involved with musical instruments. Does anyone have the service manual? Or has anyone had a similar fault and rectified it.

I have tried the reset sequence. The piano indicated 'initial settings' but no change in the symptoms

    HELP!

    Andrew
