Technics SX PR604 digital piano - How to suppress the hiss sound?

by James
(Australia)

How to suppress the hiss sound from my Technics SX PR604 digital piano?

When I switch on my piano, there is a low hiss sound, not loud enough to interfere in my playing but it does bother me.

You cannot hear I play the piano, not even when I hear it from headphones or if I plug it into separate powered amplifier.

Its just when you switch on and don't play anything or when you are looking at the sheet trying to focus on what’s written that it really bothers me.

Can this be fixed anyway? How much would it cost to repair it on my Technics SX PR604 digital piano?

Common Faults in electronics
by: Dave

Constant background hiss can be caused by a noisy transistor or other component in the pre-amp stage.
The popping clicking and intermittent hiss could be a dry solder joint on the circuit board, or an internal fault inside a transistor or intergrated circuit.
Dry joints are easy to fix using a magnifying glass and a soldering iron.

Hissing Sound from Piano Keyboard
by: Raks

Hissing from speakers is generally because noise in the system is getting amplified somewhere. You will have to get the circuit board checked.

Technics Digital Ensemble SX-PR602 - Hissing, Static, Popping Sound
by: Shari

I own a Technics Digital Ensemble. The model is PR 602. Lately when I turn the piano on, I get a hissing, static, popping sound. It is loud, but it doesn't seem to interfere with the instrument sound. It will, once in a blue moon, stop after playing for a while, but most of the time it is just so annoying I stop playing. This is the only problem I have ever had with this piano.

I love it and it has hundreds and hundreds of hours of wonderful playing hours on it. Please let me know if you have ever had this happen to you. Why did/does this happen, and what is the fix for this problem.
