Technics Panasonic PR-270 Motherboard Problem

by Jerry G. Casile
(Philippines)

I guess this will be best platform or forum for Technics keyboard and digital piano, I used to work with JH Trading House here in the Philippines and I was able to acquire this unit via US market.

But the problem how I wish I could still enjoy the crisp electrifying sound of my unit which I can't play any longer. The problem is the mother board of my Technics unit PR-270, this is still my favorite unit though still have other unit which is Yamaha DGX630.

Please give me the best advice to resurrect my Technics PR270.

Thanks and more power to your company.

Technics Panasonic PR-270 Digital Piano mainboard repair
by: Mitch

Hi

There's a 1 farad flat cap that leaks all over the motherboard of your Technics PR-270 Digital Piano and can ruin some tracks. The cap is replaceable and the tracks repaired with some thin wire and a steady hand.

Oh....and some form of illuminated magnifier is a real help too. It's the caps fault and causes the failures you mention!

It looks like a round cell battery but in fact is a 5V - 1 farad cap. All available on good old E BAY too for a few bucks!

Good luck
Mitch

Panasonic Technics SX-PR703 Digital Piano Motherboard problem
by: Anonymous

Panasonic Technics SX-PR703 Digital Piano Motherboard problem!

I have similar symptoms. The piano powers up, the screen goes blue, but no sound or anything from the piano. I can get it to play occasionally by holding the left most key down while powering up, but that is hit and miss. Plus the piano may not stay on for too long.

I suspect that it may be due to a bad capacitor that is responsible for maintaining memory when the power is off. It doesn't appear to be a CPU problem as when it does power up it works fine, for a while.

Anyone have success at troubleshooting the Technics PR series?

Technics (Panasonic) Digital Piano Motherboard
by: Roger

Even I am having problem with my Technics digital piano. The mains light comes on but the piano does not produce any sound. Even any of the LEDs on the control panel do not light. So I concluded there could be some problem with the chip or the motherboard inside.

I got help from one of my friends who is good at checking such stuff and we managed to open the board. He said that the power is reaching the board but we were unable to make any progress beyond that.

I love my digital piano and I desperately want it to work.
