Stage Piano - cost effective and portable

Stage Piano - Two factors about acoustic pianos which disappoints a lot of buyers - Space and Cost! Yes it is fact! But a stage piano does provide you with a very good alternative. It has the look of an electronic keyboard so a lot of people may not find it attractive but it has 88 keys, it is very portable, comes with a good piano action and finally comes at a cost which most of us can afford.

Stage Pianos are generally used by two sets of people –

Beginners - Cost is a major concern for somebody who wants to start learning the Piano. So you want something which is affordable, has 88 keys, has weighted keyboard action and some good piano sounds. If you have a home music system, you can connect the output of your piano to the music system so you will not need a model with built-in speakers.

Look for a Piano which has a weighted action keyboard. A better option would be the graded weighted or the graded hammer action which emulates the keys on a Grand Piano. All the models nowadays have a MIDI slot so you can connect it to a PC if needed.

The entry level models contain the basic piano sounds and a few other sounds like electric piano, organ, and strings. As you go for higher models, you will get built-in musical styles, effects, sequencer and a lot of other features.

Gigging Pianists If you are basically a pianist who does a lot of gigs, stage piano will be a very good option as it is very easy to carry around. The only weight that you can feel while carrying your Piano would be because of the heavy weighted keys. You even do not need a model with built-in speakers as you will anyways need to connect it to an external amplifier if you are playing in public.

Though some of the models may look very simple but they are packed with some stunning piano sounds and come with amazing effects making it ideal for stage performance. These features along with the weighted key action are the primary reason that a lot of Pianists normally own these pianos as their second piano.
