Soundcard Latency - Delayed sound

by Renante Nate
(Philippines)

Soundcard Latency - How do I get rid of the delayed sound coming from my computer?

OS: Windows XP/windows 7
Keyboard model: Yamaha PSR-175
MIDI connection: M-audio MIDI-USB Uno
Recording Software used: anvil, cakewalk

What I Want:
I just want to connect the keyboard to the computer and play. The sound should be generated by the MIDI virtual sound canvas through the PC speaker. In this way, I can play more instruments other than those in the keyboard.

How do I correct the delay of sound? There is a tendency for me to play very slow just for the computer to catch up the sound.

Bought an M-Audio Delta 1010LT PCI sound card for my digital piano recording NEW
by: Ted

I bought an M-Audio Delta 1010LT PCI sound card for my digital piano recording.

I was having some issues with latency and also the quality of my recording use to be really bad earlier.

The sound from my digital piano sounded much better than what would be produced on the computer.

All these issues have now been taken care of by the M-Audio Delta 1010LT PCI sound card. There is no latency and the piano sound from the computer sounds much clearer, brighter and louder.

Soundcard Latency - ASIO Drivers NEW
by: bong

ASIO drivers to solve soundcard latency issue.

Whew! After searching for several days I have come across with this technology of addressing "latency" problem.

I installed the free ASIO from asio4all.com.
I also installed the trial version of truepianos software from www.truepianos.com. With this software, I can play several types of piano with decent piano sounds. I hope there is similar software for other instruments as well.

If I wish to record I use the anvil software.
