Broke a Key of My Yamaha PSR 550

by Dan
(Singapore)

I bought a used yamaha psr 550 a month back. I had taken it to my school for a practice session. After the session, when I was trying to put it back in my bag, it slipped out of my hand and dropped on the floor, from about 6-8 inches high . In the process, I broke one of the white keys broke and came out. Will be contacting Yamaha for the replacement but just wanted to know if there is an easy fix to this, since I am feeling miserable about this?

Has any of you ever opened the keyboard and made this kind of repair?

Yamaha PSR e413 Keyboard - 'Do it yourself' repair of Keys

by Peter
(Abuja, Nigeria)

How can I repair and service my Yamaha PSR E413 keyboard by myself.

I am a technician and I do service most computers and electronics by myself, but my Yamaha PSR e413 developed a fault and I can't seem to know what to do.

The problem is that the keys A and Eb and its octaves are not working at all and I have not used it up to a year.

Yamaha does not have a service outlet in my city/country, so I have to repair the Yamaha PSR E413 myself.

Casio Privia PX 720 Piano Keyboard - Keys Not Working

by Chris
(Hanoi, Vietnam)

Hello

Yesterday on my Casio Privia PX 720 piano-keyboard, 14 random keys suddenly stopped working.

I have a recent Casio PX 720 privia piano and I live in Vietnam.

I am not sure if there is a good repairman here who can fix this problem on my Casio PX-720.

Any suggestions on how this could be fixed on my casio keyboard piano?

Thank you!
Chris

8 Keys are Not Working Properly on my Digital Piano

by Keith
(Brisbane Australia)

Keys 25 to 32 (8 consecutive keys) on my Digital Piano are not working properly.

These 8 keys play loudly as if at full volume, regardless of the volume setting on the piano. Once these keys are played, they won't play again unless the digital piano is switched off and on again.

The faulty keys on the digital piano still play the correct sound which has been set (e.g. strings, pipe organ or electric piano).

I am thinking that the notes are transmitted to the main circuit board in eleven groups of 8, and this is the fourth group of 8 notes starting from the bottom. Could this be a problem with the printed circuit board, or with the keys?

I was thinking if water had been spilled in the keys, it might eventually dry out and come good, but this hasn't happened.

The problem is consistent and doesn't change. The keys themselves seem fine, no difference in weight or action.

No visible damage to the digital piano at all.

I removed the top and removed a couple small items which had found their way in when closing the keyboard cover; one of the items was near the circuit board and looks like conductive material.

Removal of all foreign objects didn't fix the problem.

Any suggestions?

Keith

My Yamaha PSR 1000 needs repair; a key does not work.

One key has stopped working on my Yamaha PSR 1000 keyboard. I have completely lost the sound from that key. Is there something I could do on my own to repair that?

Please help me.

Gem PS1600 Digital piano - Two keys producing a noisy clicking noise

by Fred
(United States)

I have a Gem PS1600 Digital piano, and need to remove two keys to address a noisy clicking noise.

I removed the contact board underneath the keyboard, and cannot see how to remove the keys. I need to remove 2 black keys, and see why they are making a noise that sounds like plastic hitting on plastic.

There is some kind of hinge mechanism in these keys where the counterweights are attached.

I am confident that if I can take these offending keys out, I will be able to see what the problem is.

I simply cannot see how to get the keys out of the Gem PS1600 piano. I was told they either slide out, or pop out, but cannot see what to do.

Can you advise me on my Gem PS1600 Digital piano?

With Kindest Regards, I Remain,
Fred Baker

Yamaha Clavinova PF P-100 piano: How to tighten up the keys?

by Peter H. Soderman
(US)

I have a very reliable Yamaha Clavinova PF P-100 piano.

Over the years the Graded Hammer Effect has begun to 'wear off': I can 'blow' the keys down now a slight exaggeration.

I wonder if there is a way to tighten up the keys on my Yamaha Clavinova piano?
