I received the Yamaha PSR e423 as a gift. It has very good sound, very good accompaniment, arpeggiator, styles and voices. All is very good.
Don't expect too much from MIDI however. As stated by Yamaha and their service people: it works ... HOWEVER the accompaniment parts of PSR e423 cannot be read by software such as One Man Band, Notation Composer (Notation Software) as well as several other lower cost software packages that I tried.
The very expensive 'Steinberg Cubase 5.1 Advanced Music' system DOES WORK!!
This Steinberg software costs several hundred dollars (for use with the Yamaha PSR e423 keyboard costing less than $300)??
Thank you for who created this website. Im about 2 weeks into owning the Yamaha PSR E423 keyboard. Did my research on it online and all the reviews i've read and what I heard in demos on youtube were great. The sounds and styles seem really good. However I'm more into writing songs and the thing that bugs me the most is recording the drum track on the sequencer the accomp is ALWAYS ON. It can't be shut off! the only way around it is by lowering the split point to the lowest key C. I don't like that at all. I also don't like the fills and intro/ending layout synch stop and start are next to each other and if you hit fill it will automatically go into the next one you have to hit it quickly twice to keep it on same pattern. I used to own PSR 510 in the mid 90's. I loved that board. You could change the accomp and and sequencing was a lot easier on the board. I like to create and I haven't yet but it seems to me to do what I want I have to connect to my PC. I give the board 4 out 5 stars. It looks great too.

Psr e423 and psr i425 by: YourGuide
Hi Vikram,
Though psr e423 does come with built-in few Arabic, Indian and Chinese Styles, you would more Indian music on the psr i425.
You should be able to add midi files of popular songs to your Psr e423 and then you can play on top of those songs. Your manual should provide you more information.

Just bought a Yamaha PSR e423 by: Anonymous
Newly bought 2 days back in kolkata. Nice voices. Great experience playing with arpeggio and chord function. In learning stage, could have added some indian beats like2/3, 3/2/2 etc.

PSR e423 vs YPT 320 by: Shalom
Thanks for the video and happy that I found this page! I was having a tough time deciding between this one and the YPT 320. I was looking at the YPT 320 because it fitted by budget perfectly bit this seems to have much more power, and has all the action. All those knobs and arpeggiators plus terrific sounds...

Yamaha psre423 Keyboard by: Libs
Why just talk about the sounds, this has got many more features. You can easily connect it to FL studio, Reason, Ableton or Audacity and get your recording done on the computer. You can save it as an mp3 or wav file and you are ready to hear it on any portable player like iPod.

PSR e423 vs PSR e413 by: Oct
I read somewhere that this is almost same as the now discontinued Yamaha e-413. I don't think so!!! I wish I had seen this keyboard earlier. Nevertheless I enjoy my PSR 413 but this is a cool keyboard.

Excellent sounds by: Brez
The psr e423 sounds like a much more expensive keyboard. I also own a Roland XP-50 and some of the voices on the Yamaha are as good as the one son Roland. I think it's a very good deal at these current prices.

Mac Drivers for Yamaha PSR e423 Music Keyboard by: Anonymous
FYI, while there is not Mac driver listed on Yamaha's site for the psr e423, the 413's driver does work.
You need drivers! I think you might already have had them on your computer. But those of you have Mac need to know that the yamaha-psre423 digital keyboard is not compatible with Mac, it won't work with Mac. Hopefully the newer keyboards from Yamaha will provide drivers to support both PC as well as Mac.

Yamaha PSR e423 Music Keyboard by: Sunny
I think the sound is very good for the price. If you want better sounds from Yamaha, then you will have to consider the arranger workstations or the synthesizers from Yamaha, both of which would be expensive.
Besides, the yamaha-psre423 keyboard has a standard midi-over-USB interface, so you don't need to install any drivers to make it work with your computer.

Yamaha PSR e423 Music Keyboard by: Acer
I feel the Yamaha psr-e423 digital piano keyboard is a bit overpriced, and most of the sounds available are more of effects, for instance phone ringing, footsteps, etc. I would definitely have preferred a better sound and would not have mind if certain features were missing. Not to say that this is a bad keyboard, just that they could have designed the Yamaha psr-e423 better.
