Overview

At one end, the advancement in technologies helps beginners as they get access to more features at affordable prices. However at the other end, pros demand more cutting edge technologies that are also easy to use and expandable

As a result the game keeps on changing every few years. To keep pace, Korg over the years has produced several top class workstations and now the latest in line is the Korg Kronos / Kronos X Workstations.

Musicians like fresh ideas and breakthrough technologies, top class sound engines, and spectacular sounds from music workstations.

And this one is prepared to deliver those.

Kronos boasts of having several (nine to be specific) synthesis engines, all under the hood in one single instrument, so that you have access to the finest sound creation techniques.

Kronos X vs Kronos

And to take it further, the new Kronos X Music Workstation has been launched. The "X" basically indicates that it has been expanded (increased internal memory and SSD size). It has raised the bar for musicians around the globe, and is seen by many as the industry standard against which most other keyboards are compared.

But then how do you make a good instrument even better? In this case, Korg has chosen to add more of what it already does great.

Korg Kronos Synth Workstation

The Kronos X adds a larger-capacity solid-state hard drive for lightning fast access to the sample library.

It also doubles the available sampling RAM to a generous 2 GB, giving you the added flexibility in the studio or on-stage.

You can also now have direct file transfer from the internet to the Kronos using the built-in Ethernet card.

The larger SSD contains demo versions of Korg’s expansion libraries, ready for you to try out. With the added power of the Kronos, you can load more of these libraries at once.

Want to have even more sounds. The Kronos X now allows you to install any professional SSD (Solid State Disk) card that gives you access to even more samples and audio recordings.

So basically, with the Kronos X you can now access the various sound/sample libraries faster, it provides more memory and more storage.

Kronos Highlights

Here are some of the highlights of the Kronos, which also looks quite impressive:

  • Nine sound engines for piano, organ, digital synthesis, and analog/physical modeling, massive library of samples, expanded Drum Track
  • For instance with piano engine delivers stunningly realistic pianos, played directly from the built-in solid-state drive. Nuances like damper resonance, mechanical noises and other physical properties deliver life-like and playable pianos, packed in a hardware instrument.

Experienced pianist will like the level of details you have there. For instance if you play a chord and don’t play the pedal it would still sound nice, but when you press the pedal, all the ambiance that you would expect from a piano comes into play.

So if you play some big or block chords and hold the pedal, it sounds as if the lid is open right in front of you.

Similarly, you could use the other sound engine to hear the incredibly realistic vintage and reed electric pianos.

    Korg Kronos Sound Engines

  • 61, 73 or 88 keys: The 61 keys feature a synth action, whereas the other two models the RH3 Graded Hammer Action, suitable for piano players
  • Large 8 inch Touch-screen for easy
  • On-board sequencer offers 16 MIDI tracks + 16 audio tracks (24-bit, 48kHz recording quality)
  • You can use up to 16 effects at once; individual effects rival dedicated units: 12 Insert effects, 2 Master effects, 2 Total effects
  • Easily organize the Programs, Combis, and Songs you need to perform in a single screen, using the Set List mode
  • and more...
