Looking for suggestions on
Kawai CL25 and a Yamaha YDP 181 digital piano!
I used to own an upright U3 Yamaha piano, which I loved a lot. But this time I am looking for something that is comparatively lighter. I live in an apartment and I don’t want to go in for a huge piano that takes too much place and is impossible to move.
After doing some searching I really like these two digital pianos -
Kawai CL25 and Yamaha YDP 181.
The Kawai CL25 looks quite good for its size. The only downside I could see is that the sound is not big enough, probably because the speakers are not big.
Otherwise, everything else seems okay. It includes a basic set of eight different sounds and has a layering feature – you can combine two sounds and play them together (e.g. combine piano with strings). The keyboard touch is good, just like a real piano. You feel as if it has hammers inside hitting a string,
As opposed to the Kawai, the Yamaha YDP 181 is bigger, heavier and more expensive. It also has 8 different sounds and comes with additional features like built-in sequencer, USB port, etc. Somehow it doesn't seem to have the layering feature, and the keyboard touch also doesn't feel great, unlike a real piano.
I guess my dilemma is similar to what many buyers go through. I love the Yamaha digital piano but it is expensive. The Kawai fits my budget but somehow I don't feel excited about it.
Any suggestions -
