Electric pianos – Good alternative to an acoustic piano
Electric pianos, which is another way of referring to digital pianos, have been so popular because they have nicely solved most of the problems associated with acoustic pianos, the most important one being the issues of cost, space and maintenance.
An electric piano also gives you all the flexibility of a digital instrument, one of the most important one being the ability to connect a headphone and practice whenever you wish to practice. Some of them even let you connect two headphones so that you can practice with a partner or a teacher.
Digital pianos, while giving you all these flexibilities, do not compromise on the sound and the feel of the keyboard. An expensive electric piano will use the best sound samples and will have graded hammer action which emulates the action on an acoustic piano.
You get digital pianos in all kinds of looks. You get digital pianos with the grand piano look, upright piano look and even a portable keyboard look. The portable pianos are used extensively by gigging musicians as it is very easy to carry around.
There are a lot of manufacturers who make good pianos, the more popular ones being Yamaha, Roland, Korg, Kawai and a few others. You can go through the various reviews on this site to know more about digital pianos.
