Chicago Whitney Upright Piano - Should I Buy?

by Ross
(US)

Friends, I want to know if I can buy a Chicago Whitney Upright piano for my daughter. My daughter is keen to learn piano but I don't want here to start on a beginner electronic keyboard. I want her to start on a real piano.

Checked out this Chicago Whitney piano which is up for sale. I don't know much about pianos but I checked and played all the keys, they all seem to sound okay.

Is the Chicago Whitney a good piano to buy for my daughter, to begin learning to play the piano?

Chicago Whitney - Beginner piano
by: Jim

Bear in mind that it's just a beginner model so may not be worth spending a lot to get it fixed. I would spend around $150-$200 max.

Chicago Whitney Pianos

The Chicago Whitney is quite old model, was made by Kimball around 1933. I still think you should get it inspected by a technician before you decide buy it. You might end up spending several times more in rebuilding it, than what its cost is. It?s better to get the views of a piano technician.
