Casio Piano Keyboard - Saving & Loading Song Data!

Use your Casio piano keyboard to save your song data to external storage devices or load external song data form a computer to the keyboards built-in memory

Since the music keyboard is a digital instrument, all the songs, styles, tones, effects, etc. is basically stored as digital data by the keyboard instrument.

This data can also be stored on external devices, such as SD memory cards and floppy disks. On the other hand, you can import song data, from the internet and store it in the digital keyboard's built-in flash memory.

Using SD memory Card / Floppy Disk

Most of the Casio piano keyboards (wk series) let you use SD memory card and floppy disks as storage medias. Casio wk keyboards usually come with an SD memory card slot that supports the use of SD memory cards.

You can use it to copy your song data, pattern, or any other musical style that you may have created and stored in the keyboard's flash memory.

Advantage of Using SD memory Card

Floppy disk is an obsolete media and should eventually be phased out sometime in the future. SD memory card, on the other hand, is recent technology and is used in cameras as well.

The storage capacities of SD memory cards are much higher. This provides you with access to virtually unlimited volumes of data that you can instantly load whenever you need it.

Most of the Casio piano keyboards, as of now, support SD memory cards with 1 GB or lesser storage capacity.

Precautions to be Taken

Usually, when you are loading a data file from...or writing data to an SD memory card or Floppy diskette, the display's level meter on some of the Casio electronic piano keyboards (for example WK-3800) will show the progress of the load, write operation.

You need to be patient and wait till it indicates that the load/write operation is over. A message is shown to indicate that the data save or load operation is being performed.

Depending on the amount of data involved and the type of media you are using (SD memory card or floppy) a data save or load can take anywhere from a few minutes to more than 10-15 minutes.

You should never remove the memory card or floppy from the designated slot or turn off the piano-keyboard while card data is being accessed by a save, read or delete operation. If you do so, you may corrupt the data on the memory card or even damage the card slot.

Also, you should not use a computer, another electronic musical instrument, or any other device to change a filename or file contents created with this keyboard. Doing so can make the data unusable by this keyboard and even cause malfunction of the keyboard.

Summary - Casio Piano Keyboards

Once you reach the stage where you are creating a lot of your own unique creations, you will need plenty of memory space to store your creations. A Casio electronic piano keyboard gives you options to store your data and load them back from external storage mediums, such as SD memory cards. Go ahead and try them out; it is easy to use!
