Casio CTK 54 Keyboard – How to Transpose?

by Nursegauze
(Michigan)

I own a Casio CTK 54 Keyboard, which I assume is an old model. I inherited it from a relative who bought it used. There is no instruction manual.

The ctk-54 features a musical information system, a song bank controller and backlight LCD. It also mentions "MIDI."

One of the control buttons is labeled "transpose". This is what I would like to do.

I am playing accompaniment for a vacation bible school program and the guitarist want to play and sing the song in a lower key.

Does anyone know how I might do this on my Casio CTK 54 Keyboard?

Casio CTK 54 Music Keyboard - How to Transpose?
by: Parry

So I am assuming that you are comfortable playing in a particular key (you haven?t mentioned the key names though) and you would still like to play in the same key but want it to sound as if it's a different key.

It's easy. Just set the Transpose button to the number of semitones you would like to go up higher or lower. That's it.

Now when you play in the key that you are comfortable with, it will sound as if you are playing in the new key. Hope this helps.
