Beginners Piano Keyboard - Difference between Yamaha dgx220 and Yamaha dgx230 piano keyboards?

by Kevin
(Toronto, Canada)

Hi,

Could anybody please explain the differences between a yamaha dgx220 and a yamaha dgx230 beginner piano keyboard?

I am going to start taking piano lessons and want a good keyboard for practicing.

Further research led me to the Yamaha dgx beginner piano keyboards but I am not sure which one - dgx220 keyboard or the dgx230 keyboard?

Any suggestions?
- Kevin

Difference between Yamaha dgx220 keyboard and Yamaha dgx230 keyboard
by: Jose

I don?t think there are major differences between the two, though the dgx-230 has a few additional features over the dgx-220...as expected.

Both have 76 keys and include the Yamaha Educations Suite (Y.E.S). Both are loaded with features that will satisfy beginners as well as accomplished players.

The important features on a DGX220 keyboard include:

  • Polyphony - 32 notes (max.)

  • 489 Voices, 130+ styles

  • Performance Assistant Technology

  • 6-Track Sequencer - Record your own songs (max. 5 Songs)

  • Pitch Bend wheel

  • Flash ROM - Download songs from the internet

  • 2-Way Speaker System with a Bass Boost System

  • USB Midi - for easy connectivity to computer

  • Auxiliary Jack - Output for Phones, USB, and Sustain pedal

  • The DGX230 keyboard seems to have the following extras:

  • Full Keyboard Mode - You can play chords even on the right side of the keyboard

  • Digital Music Notebook - Software included with the DGX-230

  • Five Master EQ Settings - Alter your sound for different output systems
