Beginner Music Keyboards - Is Casio SA-76 replacing Casio SA-75?

by LouAnn
(United States)

I use 12 Casio SA-75 starter music keyboards in my music classroom. I ordered two more from Casio Company and received two Casio SA-76 keyboards instead.

They are not usable as they are so different from the other model and the adaptor doesn't fit either.

The company said the SA-75 model has been discontinued.

Please clear up this confusion as I would really like to purchase several more Casio SA-75 keyboards for my classroom.

Beginner Music Piano Keyboards - Casio SA-76 and Casio SA-75
by: George

To me both are good. It's just a way of exposing your kids to music so that you as a parent come to know whether your child has an inclination or aptitude for playing a musical instrument. My first keyboard instrument was a Casio mini keyboard when I was 12 years old. After just 10-12 months, I upgraded to a Casio ctk-710 because I was picking up quite well.

You don't get touch sensitive keys which is important in case you are serious about playing the piano keyboard. You can't even connect it to a computer and play with some software. But then for the price that these mini keyboards sell for, they adequately do what they are supposed to do. May be in the years to come ahead, you might see these missing features in mini keyboards too.

Casio SA-76 44 Key Mini Piano Keyboard
by: Cyrus

I think the Casio SA-76 44 Key Mini Keyboard is a better keyboard compared to the Casio SA-75. 44 Keys is not really a mini keyboard but small enough to be carried around, especially by kids. Besides, it is big enough so that you can play with both the hands. It has polyphony of 8 notes so you can actually play melody as well as chords together. I think it's a big improvement over the Casio SA-75 mini keyboard. i like the looks/color of the Casio SA-76 Mini Keyboard too.

Beginner mini piano Keyboards - Is Casio SA-76 replacing Casio SA-75?
by: Splar

The Casio SA-75 is a really nice mini piano keyboard to get started with learning to play keyboards. And if you run a teaching school, as in your case, it really makes sense to buy a few so that you can train many students at the same time. It's a cost effective way to build a nice classroom based teaching studio.

But I think the sa-75 is surely on the way out, with the 44-key Casio SA-76 coming in. It's a nice mini keyboard as well with 44 keys as opposed to the 37 keys which the earlier version had. I think 44 keys is good enough to play with both hands, so that you can teach chords right from the beginning on this mini keyboard.

It could be on the way out but there is no official announcement yet.

Most dealers will have to clear off their current inventory of SA-75.

Here are the links to these keyboards on Amazon:
