Privia - Casio's Digital Pianos
Privia - The Privia piano gives you 88 keys, hammer action, good sound and other features at a very aggressive price. If you find the Yamaha and Korg models above your budget, have a look at these models. Casio's sound is
getting much better in the high end models and you can notice that here as well. Lets go through some of its main features.
Hammer Action
You get scaled Hammer Action in the Privia digital pianos. Yes, the same action and feel which you find on an acoustic piano. The keys are harder to play on the left side and lighter on the right side.
Better Sound
As mentioned earlier, Casio is using a better sound source and better samples for its advanced models. The Privia digital piano also uses high quality samples and the result is that you get excellent sounds from your Privia piano.
Built-in Lessons
The Privia Pianos use built-in lessons to help you learn to play. It has lot of exercises to help you hone your skills and it trains both your hands at various levels of complexity. You can repeat the difficult sections in the practice songs by going back to some specific point within the song.
Other Features
Another important feature of the Privia pianos is that they are very light weight making them very easy to move around. They also include accompaniments and effects and almost all the sound parameters can be edited giving you a lot of control over your playing.
Download stuff from the Internet
You can keep your Privia Pianos updated with the latest rhythms, digital effects, wave files, midi files by downloading them from the Internet.
Casio has created a site called music.casio.com where you can find softwares which will let you download all the music related stuff on your PC, from where you can load
them onto your Privia.
Smart media
The Privia Pianos have a Smart media slot which lets you load and save midi files and songs from a Smart media card. A Smart media card is a card which normally acts as a storage medium for any portable device (example - camera). If your PC has a Smart media slot, you can save files from your PC onto the Smart media card and from there to your Privia piano. If it does not, then you will need a SmartMedia reader which is a small box that connects via USB to your PC.
