8 Keys are Not Working Properly on my Digital Piano

by Keith
(Brisbane Australia)

Keys 25 to 32 (8 consecutive keys) on my Digital Piano are not working properly.

These 8 keys play loudly as if at full volume, regardless of the volume setting on the piano. Once these keys are played, they won't play again unless the digital piano is switched off and on again.

The faulty keys on the digital piano still play the correct sound which has been set (e.g. strings, pipe organ or electric piano).

I am thinking that the notes are transmitted to the main circuit board in eleven groups of 8, and this is the fourth group of 8 notes starting from the bottom. Could this be a problem with the printed circuit board, or with the keys?

I was thinking if water had been spilled in the keys, it might eventually dry out and come good, but this hasn't happened.

The problem is consistent and doesn't change. The keys themselves seem fine, no difference in weight or action.

No visible damage to the digital piano at all.

I removed the top and removed a couple small items which had found their way in when closing the keyboard cover; one of the items was near the circuit board and looks like conductive material.

Removal of all foreign objects didn't fix the problem.

Any suggestions?

Keith
